SPAN-PACK resins small pellets 5 to 7 mm. available in different shapes are manufactured from expandable polystyrene particles containing a blowing agent.

By a multistage process, which includes from 2 to 4 pre-expansion passes, over 80?C steam heat softens the polymer and the blowing agent  vaporizes to create a uniform closed cell structure.

Loose-fill resin expands each pass bigger (20 to 70 mm.)

It may reach lowest and optimal pre-expansion density early using less steam than other products.

SPAN-PACK can be processed in batch or continuous expanders.

SPAN-PACK expanded loose-fill peanuts should age in silos for at least 16 48 hours, depending upon grades and densities, to allow the air permeate back into the chip and moisture to vaporize. When completely aged, peanuts can be re-expanded, up to three times in order to get low densities.
